Getting to

Santo Antão

Santo Antão is located north of the Cape Verde archipelago near the island of São Vicente. As Santo Antão does not have its own airport yet, you will have to fly into São Vicente where you can arrive from several destinations. TAP, TUI, CABO VERDE AIRLINES, LUXAIR and TRANSAVIA are airlines that fly to São Vicente.

From Mindelo, the port on São Vicente, you will have to take a ferry from CV Interilhas or Nós Ferry to Porto Novo on Santo Antão which will take approximately 60 minutes. You can buy tickets for 1500 CVE (15€) at a ticket office in the port of Mindelo and Porto Novo.

If you can't combine your arrival at São Vicente with the ferry, you will have to book a night in Mindelo.

Getting to

Vila Babósa

When you have arrived at Porto Novo, you will have to rent a car to get to Vila Babósa, if you wish, we can arrange this for you. When you leave the port with your rental car, turn left. Continue straight ahead for about 5 km. Do not take the exit marked Praia de Topo, but continue for 1 km. Take the exit on the left. You will see a solar park. There is also an arrow pointing to Casa Madeira. Follow the 'road' for about 600 metres.

Turn right and follow the arrow to Casa Madeira. Continue up the hill, you will pass Casa Madeira, keep going and before the big acasia tree turn left and you have arrived at Vila Babósa.

To travel to Cape Verde, you'll need a passport that's valid for at least six months from your departure date. A visa is required and can be arranged online at ease.gov.cv for approximately €31, allowing a 30-day stay. If the online registration doesn't work, you can still obtain a visa (EASE) upon arrival at the airport—just make sure to be among the first off the plane to avoid long queues at the counter.

It's also important to check your airline's website for any additional documents needed to enter Portugal and/or Cape Verde.

The local currency is the Cape Verdean Escudo (CVE), with €1 equal to roughly 110.265 CVE. You can withdraw Escudos using a debit card at the airport, where you'll also find an exchange office and ATMs. In Porto Novo, there are three banks with ATMs, each allowing daily withdrawals up to 20,000 CVE. Many shops accept Euros, and we're happy to accept both Escudos and Euros in cash.
